I'm reading two new books right now...both on Vastu Shastra, which is the Indian science of placement and architecture, based on the vedas. So much great info!!! Here's the website if interested: http://www.balancedbookspub.com

The Way of Vastu (excerpt below) has some GREAT info about reducing geopathic stress, color, sound, yantras, mantras, altars and other environmental balancing...I'm learning a lot. -- Daiva

The Power of Color

Just as the different qualities of light that we see in the full spectrum of colors in a rainbow have a powerful balancing effect on your environment, so does color. Whether you know it or not, color impacts your life in positive and negative ways. Your color choices can improve your state of mind or physical well-being because different colors stimulate different types of energy in the body and mind.

Radiation from the sun is composed of seven colors and numerous electromagnetic waves. Colors contain electrical rays, radio waves, infrared (short) waves, ultraviolet (long) waves, gamma rays, X-rays, and cosmic waves. Each of these waves and rays has a specific influence on your health and well-being. The south and west directions correspond to infrared and gamma rays and to the warm colors of red, orange and yellow. The north and east directions correspond to the ultraviolet rays and to the cool colors of green, violet, indigo and blue. Morning light contains ultraviolet rays; as the sun reaches its zenith, infrared ray are then emitted.

The effects of Color

WHITE: encompasses all color. It is the fastest wavelength and has a positive effect on creativity. White has purifying and healing qualities that are beneficial in any room. When used in the northeast and east, it will expand the positive energies coming from these directions.

VIOLET: calming and soothing, it aids psychic awareness. It is the shortest wavelength and the highest vibration in the color spectrum. A light shade of violet can be used as an accent color in a meditation room to uplift and support your spiritual practice.

INDIGO: represents depth of consciousness. It supports intuition and can be used as an accent in meditation rooms.

BLUE: stimulates the experience of inner truth and spiritual creativity and has the ability to reduce pain. It has a calming effect on the nervous system. Blue is a good color for a bedroom because it decreases blood pressure and respiratory rate. Blue can be used as an accent color in the bedroom by adding blue throw pillows, a bedspread, or drapes. Use blue in the west or northwest areas of a room for inspiration, personal growth and peace of mind.

GREEN: balances between the warm and cool colors. As the predominant color in nature, it stimulates abundance, balance, harmony, calmness and healing. It is the most beneficial color for use in hospitals. Green is also a good color for bathrooms, as it has purifying and renewing qualities. To use green as an accent color, hang green towels in your bathroom. Green can also be used in the study, as it stimulates learning. By adding plants to your study or office, you will support growth and prosperity. It is best to use green in the north area of a home or work space.

YELLOW: stimulates restful intellect, communication and concentration. A light shade of yellow is wonderful in a bedroom, particularly the master bedroom, as it improves and enhances relationships. An inexpensive way to incorporate yellow into the bedroom is in a bedspread or pillows. Due to its positive attributes, yellow can be used as a primary color throughout the home or office, yet it is most beneficial in the northeast, east, southeast, south or southwest.

ORANGE: stimulates a lighter and higher vibration than red does. Orange brings happiness; it is a social color that stimulates optimism, so it is good for any room used for social gatherings. Painting a wall in your dining room orange will stimulate your family’s digestion. You can use orange as an accent color by placing a bowl of oranges on the dining room table. As a warm color orange works especially well in the southern area of a home or office.

RED: the longest wavelength and the lowest frequency. Its natural placement is in the southeast. Red increases blood pressure, respiration and pulse rates. This color stimulates your physiology and also produces qualities such as strength, courage and steadfastness. Red can be used to overcome mental depression and fear. In an exercise room, use red to motivate or enhance activity. Use it as an accent color in the dining room or kitchen to stimulate the appetite, perhaps placing a bowl or red apples on your table or kitchen counter. Too much red can create aggressiveness, and thus is not recommended for children’s rooms.

Orange is a power color. It is one of the healing colors. It is said to increase the craving for food. It also stimulates enthusiasm and creativity. Orange means vitality with endurance. People who like orange are usually thoughtful and sincere. Lady luck's color is orange.
While red is associated with fiery heat, orange is associated with the benign warmth of the sun. A dynamic color to be sure, orange offers a more thoughtful control than explosive red. Curiosity is a driving characteristic of orange, and with it comes exploration of new things.

Put some orange in your life when you want:

- to spice things up when you feel time is dragging
- to become more involved in something
- to increase creativity
- relief from things becoming too serious
___________

Orange combines the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine, and the tropics. Orange represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation.

To the human eye, orange is a very hot color, so it gives the sensation of heat. Nevertheless, orange is not as aggressive as red. Orange increases oxygen supply to the brain, produces an invigorating effect, and stimulates mental activity. It is highly accepted among young people. As a citrus color, orange is associated with healthy food and stimulates appetite. Orange is the color of fall and harvest. In heraldry, orange is symbolic of strength and endurance.
___________

Orange is the color of sexuality, joy, enthusiasm and creativity and promotes a general sense of wellness.

Spiritualy effects : Creativity, harmony, emotional balance, passion, sexuality, intuition, freedom and expression of emotions.

Too much ORANGE and we become self-centered, manipulative, and self serving, disregarding the needs of others. Pride, and arrogance can push us out of balance.
Too little ORANGE and we become frigid, distrustful, timid or shy, and overly sensitive. We lose our motivation, our self esteem suffers, and we have a tendency to isolate or become rebellious. We hide our emotions and are easily hurt. This can lead to becoming mistrustful of others, introverted, unable to show emotions, worrying about what others think, and even anti-social behavior.
Color Therapy - Color and the Brain
Specific colors have different effects
Orange: energizes, stimulates appetite and digestive system
___________

As is often the case with symbolism, the color orange has different associations in different cultures. Generally it signifies energy ... ambition ... pride ... playfulness ... and due to its association with fire, creativity; however, to Buddhists, whose monks wear orange robes, it symbolizes humility.

By Robert Kothe, author of Millionaires' Secrets Revealed

The clichés you have heard time and time again actually contain the most timeless advice ever written. For advice to become a cliché, it must stand the test of time. Clichés bridge generations. Knowing this you should be using clichés for decision making and problem solving.

Today, many people are complaining that they do not have any time to do what the want. Working people feel that they are stuck in a dead end job. Worst of all, peoples' stress levels are at the highest point ever. You can use clichés to solve some of these situations.

I am not going to tell you how to solve all of your problems, but I can share with you some creative solutions to help you move forward. Using clichés, I will help you sculpt the life that you have always dreamed about.

A little background about myself; I am a person who strongly feels that if you do not get advice where there is a similar cliché already available, the advice is probably not worth anything. (Re-read that last line it is a killer.)

If somebody tells you that you should do the right thing right now or else it will come back to haunt you, it translates to the cliché, "A stitch in time saves nine".

When a friend advises you that you should probably stop arguing with someone, you made your point, the cliché, "Quit while you are ahead" is interchangeable. Clichés are based on redundancy and years of experience. You can be assured that they are factual and true. Advice that can not be related to a cliché, is simply un-tested. Perhaps some day it may become a cliché but in the mean time I'm not applying it until it is a cliché.

HOW I FOUND OUT CLICHES ARE SO POWERFUL

When I was writing my first book, "Millionaires' Secrets Revealed", I conducted countless hours of research. I interviewed self-made millionaires. I read self-help books. I studied success classics like, "Think and Grow Rich", by Napoleon Hill. (Incidentally, the book's title is practically a cliché these days. Entire motivational speaking careers have been built on this single phrase.) As I researched my book, I kept seeing the same advice phrased in different ways.

In the beginning of my research it seemed like a coincidence. As the same information continued to surface I knew that I found some common factors that made successful people. Essentially, many of these authors took a cliché and turned it into a chapter.

This article will show you how to take a chapter and return it to a cliché. A cliché is probably the most sincere form of the truth.

For example, most successful people insisted that you must care for your body. You must exercise and eat well. This translated to, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away." It can also be said that, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." These days the cliché is forming, "eat well and exercise."

BAD ADVICE IS NEVER TURNED INTO A CLICHE

Have you ever heard this one? "Sticking your finger in an outlet saves the amp meter". Or; "Lying to friends, makes amends." What about this one, "An ounce of procrastination is worth a pile of time." These will never make the mainstream because they are all bad advice. This further proves my point that when advice become a cliché it is absolutely true.

NOW LET'S FIX SOME OF YOUR PROBLEMS
WITH THE RIGHT CLICHÉ

First we must address the dead-end job and your high stress levels. We will need my favorite cliché. "I would rather be the watch maker than the time keeper" (that cliché made it into my book.) What does this mean? Let's suppose that you work in a retail store. If you did not show up for work, the schedule would probably be ruined. You would fall into the category of "Time Keeper". Is your job, "mission critical"? Do you have to trade with people to get days off? Are you the only person who performs certain tasks? Do you need to plan in advance to get time for yourself? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are a "Time Keeper".

The solution, take small steps today that will take you closer to becoming a "Watch Maker." The "Watch Maker's" job is finished when the watch is made. From that point on it is up to the person who purchased the watch to check what time it is.

You don't have any time for yourself. Why don't you, "take a moment to smell the roses." Let's break down this cliché. 'Take', is an action. 'Take', empowers you to do something. It is up to you to give yourself the time. If you rely on others, they will only ask you to do something for them. 'A moment', is a small period of time. Sometimes it is just a little nap, or a small break that will recharge your energy.

In closing, I would like to leave you with a little investing advice, "Buy low and sell high." Before you give any investing advice yourself, you should, "Put your money where your mouth is."

Keep applying those clichés and you will improve your life. Always remember, unless it is a cliché, it is not worth listening to. A cliché is the most notable quotable!
